YOU'RE HIRED!

 YOU'RE HIRED!
Mock Interviews
The Youth Chamber hosted the 2nd Annual Mock
Interviews event in order to promote professional development, helping our members practice their interviewing skills that will later help them be hired. With over 15 professionals in the fields of insurance, education, banking and entertainment, Youth Chamber members had the opportunity to polish their interviewing skills and hear feedback from recruiters on what they are looking for during an interview. In addition, Verizon Wireless provided members with very useful do's and don'ts of what to do before, during, and after job interviews.  Lastly, students were able to take advantage of the career services representatives who gave great feedback to students' regarding their resumes and cover letters, in addition to other helpful resources.

Winter Mixer
With over fifty attendees, the 2nd Annual Youth Chamber mixer was a success. Students from CSUF, UCI, surrounding colleges and local high schools had the opportunity to put in practice the skills learned from previous roundtables. We were glad to have sponsors Verizon and State Farm attend this event as well.  The night began by introducing this year's scholarships, internships, and board member positions available, and it ended with a memorable raffle at which students received prices that ranged from sponsor's goodie bags, to gifts cards, to laser printers.  Thanks to this networking event, recent
graduate Martin Mendez secured a job with
Verizon Wireless.

Financial Literacy
As the 2012 calendar year was coming to an end, we hosted our Financial Literacy workshop on December 7th. We had our strategic partner -  Ernst&Young's very own David Molina discuss the importance of financial literacy. Topics included how to manage debt, how to increase your net worth, as well as personal investment strategies. There was also a very interactive Q&A portion, which allowed students to receive more financial insight specific to them.
